When you register for a Physics Account, you are agreeing to the terms and conditions stated in the Department of Physics Rules for Computer Use document.
The three main accounts that you will use are as follows, your Physics account, your SSO account and your Eduroam account.
Physics Account
Your Physics department account (also known as your Active Directory or AD account) is used to log you into centrally managed services in the department such as desktop systems, network services and web based applications. When you arrive in the department, the details of your account and password will have been sent to the admin staff based in your sub-department so you should contact them to get started.
The username for all staff, graduate students and visitors will usually be your surname but if someone else already has that account name some letters from your first name may be added to the end. For undergraduates, your Physics username will be your Oxford SSO username.
For more details and instructions on how to change your password please see here.
University Single Sign on Account
Staff and graduate students who apply for a University card will automatically be given a University Single Sign on (SSO). You will need this to access University services outside of the department, e.g., Nexus, Weblearn, VPN etc. More details.
Your SSO is used to access email and other central University services, the username will be in the format of abcd1234.
Your SSO password can only be reset through this website.
