Linux Terminal Servers
Linux Terminal Servers
The Linux team provide two terminal servers that can be used by anyone in Physics to run the equivalent of a Linux desktop.
They provide:
- The same basic applications as any Linux desktop
- A shell account
- Access to the Linux home area
They should not be used for heavy applications as it will cause the system to be unusable for other users and if this happens your process will be stopped without warning.
The servers names of the servers, their debian version and the date they will be destroyed are below.
| Server name | OS | Sundown |
|---|---|---|
| cplxts13.nat.physics.ox.ac.uk | trixie | 2028-04-30 |
| cplxts12.nat.physics.ox.ac.uk | bookworm | 2026-04-30 |
These systems can be accessed by RDP or SSH, see the appropriate article for instructions on connecting.
