Connecting to the Wireless in Physics using Ubuntu or Debian

- Select the network manager applet from the toolbar (there is a similar icon in Debian and Ubuntu on Gnome Shell)

- (wifi icon) --> "Wi-Fi >

--> "All Networks"

--> "Visible Networks"

--> click on "Physics_S"

- (old Ubuntu) Edit connections --> wireless -> select "Physics_S" --> click "Edit"



- Gnome Shell on Debian and Ubuntu:

Having clicked "Physics_S", a window "Wi-Fi Network Authentication Required" will appear. get the certificate chain (details), then choose it (it is not the one shown below as of Jan 2026)

Fill in the details as below, using your own Physics username and password.

--> Click "Connect"

- (old Ubuntu) Fill in the details on the Wireless and Wireless security tabs as shown

Wi-Fi certificate chains (for "CA certificate") are available from the digital-certificates page.

NOTE THE USERNAME INCLUDES A BACKSLASH NOT A FORWARD SLASH.
For security reasons, do not save the password or make available to all users.
